After qualifying as a Gym Instructor in 2013 , Matt began his career working part-time at Progression Fitness Studio, eventually becoming Assistant Manager of the Newbury branch. In February 2017 Matt became Manager of You Fit Gym.
Matt believes that knowledge is the foundation to successful fitness,
“You have to start with an understanding of the basics, whatever your goal is, and build from there. Exercise doesn’t have to be complicated. We’ve got a great team at You Fit Gym who are always ready to help our members. Seeing people achieve their goal, whatever it is, is one of the most satisfying parts of my job.”
However, Matt is quick to admit that teaching Step Classes is best left to someone else,
“We should never be afraid to try new exercise disciplines but I know from experience that teaching Step Class is not for me! We all have our strengths and although the team at You Fit Gym is small, we pride ourselves in always striving to learn for the benefit of ourselves and our members.”
Matt is also a qualified Personal Trainer and Boxercise Instructor.
